Making an etching is an exacting process, involving many steps. I take a prepared copper plate on location, where I draw upon it preparatory to being etched and printed. Here, I am placing high-quality paper over the inked plate before pulling it through the press.
Most of my prints are etched, but I occasionally make a drypoint on copper, scratching into the plate with a sharp steel point. No etching solution is used, hence the term. The printing of a drypoint and an etching is similar.
